Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found the Nutshell to be clean and comfortable, with several positive remarks about its tidiness. However, a few reviews mentioned issues such as a mouldy shower curtain and the need for a deeper clean in some areas, slightly lowering the score.

The location is highly praised for being central and convenient, close to shops, pubs, and the harbour, yet quiet enough for a peaceful stay. The provision of a parking permit is appreciated, although the distance to the car park is noted by some.

Guests generally regard the Nutshell as comfortable, with a cosy atmosphere and a bed that many found to be very comfortable. Some guests, however, noted that the property might not be suitable for those with mobility issues due to the stairs.

The Nutshell is equipped with the essentials needed for a stay, and guests appreciate the added touches like the outside sitting area. Criticisms include the lack of Wi-Fi and some minor maintenance issues, which suggest room for improvement.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the owner in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

About this property

A splendid apartment, in a converted Victorian property, centrally located in the historic port of Whitby. Set over two floors, entry is via a decorative wrought iron gate and sixteen external steps. Small but perfectly formed, this beautifully renovated apartment is just the ticket for couples to enjoy the many attractions this atmospheric town has to offer, surrounded by the stunning scenery of the North York Moors National Park. It has a bespoke, galley-style kitchen, with a slate floor and ceramic sink, leading into a wet room with luxurious underfloor heating. From the kitchen, there are two steps down to the sunny sitting room, with a dining table tucked under the spiral staircase. Furnished in a nautical theme, with painted, white beams, this bright and cheerful room is relaxing and comfortable. On the mezzanine floor above is the double bedroom, whilst the tiny patio area outside the front door, which overlooks the local church, provides a pleasant spot for a morning coffee. Ideally placed, you’re just a couple of minutes’ walk to the excellent amenities of this popular seaside resort, including restaurants, cocktail bars and independent shops. Sample the traditional tea rooms, explore the cobbled market square and wander the web of quaint narrow streets and alleyways. Why not climb the 199 steps up to the famous Whitby Abbey, or take an exhilarating clifftop walk on the Cleveland Way to blow the cobwebs away? With long, sandy beaches, a picturesque harbour, museums and galleries, there is plenty to occupy everyone. A lovely apartment, that won't disappoint.

The ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire with its superb coastline and the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.

The cottage was very nicely decorated and warm enough for February. I gave some feedback about providing a hairdryer, new mattress, and he acted on this immediately.
