Grimes Cottage in Saltburn-by-the-Sea offers a quaint and characterful stay with views of the harbour and a cosy log burner. The property's location is ideal for exploring the North York Moors & Coast, with easy access to coastal paths and local amenities. Guests have enjoyed the charm of the cottage and the village, though some have noted areas in need of improvement.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviews indicate a range of experiences regarding cleanliness. While some guests found the cottage spotless, others reported it as very dirty, with the presence of ants, slugs, and dust. The inconsistency in cleanliness has impacted guest satisfaction.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its proximity to the harbour, shops, and pubs, as well as for the beautiful views and the ease of exploring the local area on foot. The steep access and parking challenges are noted, but do not significantly detract from the overall positive reception of the location.

Guests have found the cottage comfortable and cosy, particularly praising the log burner and sea views. However, several reviews mention uncomfortable mattresses, particularly in the twin room, suggesting that while the cottage has comfortable aspects, there is room for improvement in this area.

The cottage is well-equipped according to some guests, but others have reported issues with maintenance, such as a leaking roof, broken furniture, and a need for updates. The mixed feedback suggests that while the facilities meet basic needs, they require attention to enhance guest experiences.

There is insufficient information in the reviews to assess the level of thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or special touches provided by the hosts. As such, this category cannot be scored.

The only improvement I would offer is to have a smart tv with apps so on a cold and rainy day you can snuggle up and watch a box set.

Grimes cottage had everything we needed and the Wi-Fi, which is very important to us, was excellent. The rear seating area was an added bonus proving a comfortable relaxing outdoor space. I wouldn’t hesitate to return, or recommend this cottage in beautiful Staithes to my family and friends.

Cottage looking a bit tired . Could do with a bit of TLC especially in the kitchen, bathroom and stairs carpet .
