Within striking distance are a number of attractions and activities that all ages will enjoy, making Old Town Retreat an excellent find for groups of families, friends, beachcombers and avid ramblers to call home a while. Soak up the coastal town soundtrack and ambiance before pushing open the front door to reveal the sitting room, where the sofa and accompanying armchair invite you to relax and unwind at the end of a bracing day, with a TV providing the evening’s entertainment. Take the far door to discover the kitchen, a bespoke suite with several modern touches and all the appliances one would need to cater family-favourite recipes and prepare picnics for the beach days ahead. Whilst the entire group can enjoy each other’s company at the dining table with a tipple or two, the second-floor snug room makes a perfect hideaway for sneaking in a moment’s peace to delve into a good book or for the younger guests of the group to watch the latest box set on the TV. The first floor landing grants access to the two bedrooms, the master suite notable for its elegant décor with quality linens draping across the double bed and the second bedroom features a twin layout with good storage space, perfect for children or a set of friends. Continuing to impress is the family bathroom, placed on the second floor, where the Velux windows overs views across the seaside town and a roll-top bath allows you to savour a moment of relaxation at the end of a fun-filled day. From the doorstep of the cottage, a plethora of places to eat and drink await you, ranging from classic Yorkshire roasts, to fine restaurants serving up the freshest supply of local seafood and cool cafés, where you can refuel after a day by the seaside. Meander the winding streets lined with local shops so that you can pick up any essentials as well as any gifts to take back home, before venturing to one of the two beaches, which are overlooked by the towering Scarborough Castle, a former medieval royal fortress. Within the town are an array of activities to suit all ages, including Alpamare Water Park with its indoor pools, an outdoor infinity pool and a gigantic wave pool and the famous Peasholm Park, with its stunning oriental gardens is also well-worth exploring. Be sure to catch a show at the Open Air Theatre or if you are visiting with children, be sure to catch a glimpse of exotic fish at SEA LIFE Scarborough or relish in a day out to Luna Park. Further afield, you could venture to the beautiful town of Whitby, home to the famous 199 steps up the ruins of Whitby Abbey, said to be the inspiration behind Bram Stoker's Dracula or avid ramblers can hike along the Flamborough Headline Heritage Coast or discover the North York Moors National Park for more outdoor adventure. House was comfortable and well equipped with ample space. Parking was tricky at time but to be expected in a busy bank holiday weekend.

Although there was 2 toilets one downstairs and one on the top floor it means you have to use the stairs if you need the toilet in the night we are both mid 70 th and found this a problem No bedside tables

There was no information around waste disposal or what to do with linen at the end of our stay.Found the beds to be too low .Apart from that the house was clean and tidy and in a good position
