Guests are charmed by the cottage's prime location opposite the steam railway station and its proximity to local amenities in Pickering. The property is praised for its cleanliness, homely feel, and spaciousness. While parking is noted as a slight inconvenience, the thoughtful touches like a Christmas tree and welcome pack are appreciated. The cottage's comfort and well-equipped kitchen receive positive remarks, with some minor suggestions for improvements.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests find the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with only a few isolated comments on areas that could be improved. The provision of clean bedding and towels is frequently mentioned, contributing to a high cleanliness rating.

The location is highly praised for its convenience to shops, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, and local attractions. The central location in Pickering and the ease of access to nearby towns like Whitby and York are seen as major advantages.

Guests generally regard the cottage as comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy multi-fuel burner and comfy beds. However, some guests suggest that the mattresses and pillows could be improved, slightly lowering the comfort score.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a good-sized kitchen and necessary amenities. Some guests mention minor issues with appliances and suggest the addition of items like a dishwasher. Maintenance issues are noted but are not widespread.

While guests appreciate thoughtful gestures such as a Christmas tree and a welcome pack, there are not enough references to gifts or additional thoughtful touches to accurately score this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

Parking is about quarter of a mile away, which is a bit inconvenient. The cottage was clean and had all we needed. Downside was a very steep stair and a back door that was difficult to open. There were several maintenance issues which we have reported to the owners who have said they will look into them. Not sure its somewhere I would want to take a young child but our 12 year old grandson loved it.

well equipped kitchen and the welcome pack was unexpected surprise, just sorry the trains were not in season

  • Peter

Parking not an issue even though its off sight, house close to all amenities and a steam train enthusiasts dream being directly opposite the station, would definitely stay again and highly recommend.
