One Masons Court is a well-received cottage in Stratford upon Avon, praised for its superb location, cleanliness, and historical charm. Guests appreciate the modern comforts blended with the property's character, and the proximity to local attractions. The cottage is pet-friendly and offers a cosy, comfortable stay, with thoughtful touches like biscuits and milk adding to the experience.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning it being 'lovely and clean', 'spotlessly clean', and 'extremely clean'. One review mentioned dust and unclean areas, but this seems to be an isolated case against the overall trend.

The location is highly praised for being central and within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and attractions. Guests appreciate the convenience and the easy access to Stratford's offerings, making it an ideal spot for exploring the town.

Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable. However, a few guests mentioned issues with uncomfortable furniture and beds, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

Facilities are appreciated, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and quality items. Some guests requested additional amenities like a dishwasher and a full-length mirror. There are a few negative comments regarding maintenance and the need for updates, which affects the score.

Guests often mention thoughtful touches such as the provision of biscuits, milk, and coffee pods, which contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. While these gifts are warmly received, it's important to note that such offerings may vary and are not guaranteed.

About this property

Rarely is it possible to stay in an historic and significant property, but One Masons Court is just that - the oldest house in Stratford upon Avon. Dating back to the 15th Century this venerable and incredibly beautiful building is bang in the centre of one of England's most important (historically) towns. Located approx 1 min level walk from Stratford's High Street you are a heartbeat from the centre with plenty of things to do and keep you occupied. Step off the main street, through a private walkway and suddenly the town is behind you, and you enter a small courtyard shared with a few other historic homes, peace! Inside, it is meticulously presented - smart furnishings and colours mix well with incredible period features to create a light home ideal for families as much as couples. The kitchen has everything you need, should decide to 'stay in' and cook (why would you...?!). The cosy living area has seating for four people with a 42in wall mounted TV. Up the old stairs to two good sized bedrooms and a great, contemporary bathroom with roll top bath and walk in shower - all with slick chrome fittings. As "bolt-holes" go this is as good as we have EVER seen. History and fun await in this top-of-the range Stratford holiday home and we can't imagine staying in a hotel ever again!

Stratford-upon-Avon is steeped in history and culture and is set in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside, on the banks of the River Avon. The birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford is a popular tourist destination, featuring the world renowned Royal Shakespeare Company. Experience Olde England by visiting Shakespeare’s birthplace and other houses connected to his family. Open all year round, these fascinating buildings boast 16th century furnishings and beautiful grounds and gardens, allowing you to get a feel for Tudor life. The magnificent River Avon is bordered by landscaped parks and offers an array of activities including cruises, rowing and motorboat rides.

There was an area of dried blood on the double bed eiderdown. There isn't a dishwasher , i knew this but not even a towel to dry dishes. The tray in oven was dirty. Clumps of dust which had not been cleaned. I have photos of all the above. Generally the cottage was very dusty and unclean area around the cottage. We left the property a day early as we did not find it clean enough. The armchairs are dirty and the sofa was not comfortable and not the one shown in your advertisement. This property is given 5 ticks by Sykes. I could not believe Sykes rating again. Such a shame it was an important break for us. We were looking forward to our stay in this historical building.

It was great to come to see Midsummer Night's Dream and stay in a building that was so appropriately atmospheric. It was also very comfortable and well equipped. The parking was good, and we hardly needed the car during our stay, being so central to everything.Despite it's great age, the cottage was so warm, we kept turning down the heating. On this theme, lighter weight duvets would be welcome, and a table lamp in the far corner of the living area. I really hope we get the chance to stay here again.
