Snaptrip says

Great Bidlake Manor receives high praise for its beauty, cleanliness, and well-maintained grounds. Guests appreciate the attention to detail, well-appointed rooms, and the property's ability to comfortably accommodate large family gatherings. The presence of wildlife and the tranquil setting add to the charm, while thoughtful touches like a welcome cake and bubbly enhance the experience.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers consistently mention the exceptional cleanliness of the property, noting it as spotless and well-maintained. The attention to detail in this regard is frequently highlighted, contributing to a very high score.

While guests mention the tranquil setting and the property being in a beautiful part of the country, there are insufficient specific comments on the location in relation to amenities or attractions to accurately score this category.

The comfort of Great Bidlake Manor is highly rated by guests. They find the beds comfortable, the rooms spacious, and the presence of en suite bathrooms in all bedrooms adds to the overall comfort of their stay.

Facilities are generally praised, with special mentions of the well-equipped kitchens and entertainment options like the games room. However, some minor suggestions for improvements and maintenance issues, such as the HDMI ports not working and the presence of bees, slightly lower the score.

Guests feel well-cared for with thoughtful gestures such as a welcome chocolate cake and bubbly, though it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed. The provision of ample logs for fires and other considerate touches contribute to a high score in this category.

About this property

This stunning manor house is located in lovely countryside a mile from the village of Bridestowe on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. With amazing history dating from the 13th century, it is a very special and unique, Grade II* listed destination for families and big groups of friends to gather. From the moment you step into the grand dining hall with its vast fireplace and coat of arms, you will be absorbed into the magical atmosphere of this house with its big rooms and multi-room Sonos system. A library, sitting room and TV room are all lovely places to sit peacefully, or have fun in the music room complete with instruments. The breakfast room with wood burning stove off the well equipped kitchen is perfect for less formal dining. You can arrange for caterers to cook for you if you wish. Two flights of stairs lead you up to five fantastic en suite bedrooms, all with fine Egyptian cotton linen and fluffy bathrobes provided, and a games room plus handy simple kitchen area. In fairytale style in the Tower is a sixth en suite bedroom. The grounds are as lovely as the house, with over 13 acres where you can be lord of the manor and enjoy gardens, woods, ponds and paddocks with wonderful views over the moors. Play croquet, eat alfresco in the lit barbecue area with chimenea, gaze at the scenery or run free and play games and hide and seek in the open spaces. There is beautiful moorland to walk and explore beyond the manor, with opportunities to walk and cycle, and with a pub in Bridestowe village and lively towns at Tavistock and Okehampton there are plenty of eateries and shops to browse. National Trust Lydford Gorge is a stunning place to visit. Great Bidlake is a fantastic place to make happy memories with friends and family.

Nestling among mature woodland on the western slopes of Dartmoor, the historic village of Lydford is a jewel in this area of outstanding scenic beauty. To the north, just half a mile away, the high tors come right down to the village edge, while to the south the River Lyd winds its way through Lydford Forest on its tumbling course northwards.

The house is absolutely superb, huge!.. but comfortable and welcoming. Extremely well equipped with everything you could wish for...and spotlessly clean. The garden and grounds are beautiful and so interesting with lots of new planting since our last visit. Three generations of our family plus dogs enjoyed every minute. Thank you to Carole and her team!

    Very well equipped.

Perfect for our family celebration. None of us wanted to leave. Plenty of space to be together but also to not be in each others pockets. Perfectly positioned to visit all areas of Devon and Cornwall. Communication with the housekeeper was perfect, all questions answered quickly. Would we go back ??? Without a doubt.
