The Annexe, Laburnum, is a cosy and welcoming cottage in St. Austell, Cornwall, appreciated for its cleanliness, convenient location for exploring, and the owner John's helpfulness. While some guests found the property and its furnishings to be dated and in need of maintenance, others enjoyed the homely feel and found it to be a comfortable base for their holiday. The views and peacefulness of the area were also highlighted as positives.
Most guests found the cottage to be spotlessly clean, with several positive remarks about its tidiness. However, a few mentioned issues with dampness and mustiness, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is generally praised for its quiet setting and proximity to local attractions like the Eden Project. The scenic views and ease of access to major roads were appreciated, although the lack of village amenities was noted.
Guests found the cottage cosy and the bed comfortable, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, some guests mentioned that the sofa and mattress were saggy and the property felt damp, affecting the overall comfort level.
The facilities were adequate for many guests, with a well-equipped kitchen and easy parking. Nonetheless, criticisms about outdated decor, the need for maintenance, and lack of recycling facilities impacted the score.
While the reviews reflect the owner's attentiveness and the provision of essentials like milk, tea, and coffee, there is no mention of gifts. Therefore, it cannot be confirmed if gifts are a regular courtesy, and the score is set to null.
