Snaptrip says

Guests are charmed by the unique setting of the lighthouse cottage, praising its cleanliness, comfort, and the stunning location. The welcome hamper is frequently mentioned as a delightful touch, although its contents can vary. While the foghorn adds to the experience for some, it may be disruptive for others. Overall, the property provides a memorable and enjoyable stay.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers consistently note the cottage's cleanliness, describing it as 'spotless' and 'perfectly clean'. The high standard of cleanliness contributes significantly to guests' comfort and satisfaction.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and proximity to coastal walks, though the experience of the foghorn is a unique aspect that receives mixed reactions. The scenic views and easy access to local attractions are well-appreciated.

The cottage is frequently described as comfortable, with special mentions of cosy beds and a warm atmosphere. However, suggestions for improvements such as black-out curtains and a larger TV indicate there is room for enhancement.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the welcome hamper. Some guests suggest the addition of Wi-Fi and mention minor maintenance issues. The presence of the foghorn is noted as part of the lighthouse's working facilities.

While many guests express appreciation for the welcome hamper, there is insufficient information to determine if such gifts are a consistent offering or to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the host. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

About this property

In association with Trinity House, we are pleased to present Lizard Lighthouse. Located on the Southern-most tip of mainland Britain, the six adjacent cottages of Lizard Lighthouse present guests with dazzling scenery and coastal walks right on the doorstep. Rare and beautiful flora and fauna make this cliff top location particularly special.

Lizard Lighthouse is a fully working lighthouse, first established in 1619. The distinctive two white towers that it is known for today were built in 1751 by private entrepreneur Thomas Fonnereau, and first lit on 22 August of that year. Trinity House gained control of the lights in 1771 and continues to look after its operation to this day. It became electrified in 1924 and then fully automated in 1998. It has a 26 mile light range and an automatic 3 mile fog signal if conditions are misty. The nearby Lizard Village provides shops, restaurants and a friendly pub only a short ¼ mile distance away.

Additional Information:

This is an operational lighthouse with an automatic, electric fog signal. During occasional periods of fog and mist, ear plugs are provided for your comfort.

Two well-behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge).

A travel cot and highchair available on request.

Please note, WiFi is not available at this property and there is very limited mobile signal. A telephone with honesty box is provided.

Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.

Access roads to the lighthouse site are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.

Guests are reminded they are renting a heritage building, therefore certain features such as steps, stairs and floor levels may not comply with that of a modern building. As such, we would advise guests to acquaint themselves with the premises on arrival and exercise caution accordingly.

A barbecue is not provided, however guests are welcome to bring their own, subject to adhering to the safety precautions set out in the arrival information.

Sorry, no fireworks, drones or remote controlled flying equipment are permitted.

Due to its location and surroundings, please ensure that children are supervised at all times whilst at this property.

Very good accommodation although a little tired in places. The fog horn was a bit more frequent than expected but added character. Overall had a good break

Spectacular accommodation with lovely sea views. Lovely and close to the coast path and to take the dog on some long walks. Bed was very comfy and generally the accommodation was very impressive all round. Helpful that it had a downstairs bedroom with ensuite for my elderly parents who would not have managed the steep stairs. The fog signal went off quite a few times and you are very close to it so pretty noisy outside! Inside not so bad and you get used to it and in the end, I was looking forward to it going off! It is a working lighthouse so that must be taken into consideration.
