Paythorne Farmhouse is a charming and characterful property with stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. Guests appreciate the well-equipped house, beautiful garden, and the location's proximity to walks and pubs. The property's age and rustic charm contribute to its unique appeal, though some guests noted it could benefit from a touch of modernisation and a deep clean.

Guests that stayed at this property said

While many guests found the farmhouse comfortable, there are mentions of a need for a deeper clean, including addressing an ant infestation and the presence of dead insects. However, not all reviews commented negatively on cleanliness, indicating experiences may vary.

The location is highly praised for its unbeatable setting at the foot of the South Downs, with beautiful views and proximity to local attractions and pubs. It is described as quiet and peaceful, contributing to a relaxing stay.

Guests generally found the farmhouse to be cosy and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and quality bedclothes. However, some guests suggested that certain areas could be more comfortable with updates or repairs.

The property is well-equipped for large groups, with multiple fridges and a well-appointed kitchen. However, some guests noted minor maintenance issues, such as broken lamps and a need for instructions for the log burner, indicating room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

While guests enjoyed aspects like the bird feeder and the views, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score cannot be assessed and is set to null.

Hosts were really helpful and attentive but left us alone to enjoy our stay. Would definitely recommend and will return ourselves.

The oven looks if it hasn’t been cleaned for a few years, nor the inside of the kitchen cupboards. When an infestation of ants came up through an internal wall/floor, we were told that all food should be kept in airtight containers as we were ‘in the country’! A broken dining chair that one of my party nearly fell through. Most importantly, the steep stairs to one of the bedrooms has no handrails & on one of the treads, the carpet is torn, presenting a real safety hazard. And no, I wouldn’t go back.

The 8 of us were very comfortable and cosey in the farmhouse, helped by the aga and the fireplace, and it was fantastic too to be able set off from the farm house for a walk around the Devils Dyke. The owners were also kind enough to post us some records which we'd left behind. Many thanks!
