About this property

Longtown 4.7 miles. The Courtyard is a luxurious country retreat for up to four people, in the grounds of Kirklinton Hall - a beautiful, atmospheric, and partly ruined country house, dating back to the 17th century, all surrounded by 14 acres of formal gardens, woodland and meadows. As you turn through the gates of Kirklinton Hall prepare to be transported to another world as the impressive remains of Kirklinton Hall come into full view.

The Courtyard created from the Hall’s carriage house, combines many original features with everyday comforts, with stone floors and underfloor heating throughout. Step indoors and be wowed by the open-plan living space, with exposed stonework, original beams and a woodburning stove. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a large breakfast island, along with a dining table to gather around for relaxed evening meals. Alternatively, sink into the luxurious sofas and either soak up the silence or catch a film on the smart TV. Two beautifully appointed and spacious bedrooms are on offer, a king-size and a twin (zip/link), both complete with luxurious bed linens and plenty of storage, whilst a sleek and elegant bathroom invites you to indulge in a long soak or a refreshing shower. Outside you will have access to formal gardens and woodland surrounding the property. Relax in the total tranquillity of the gardens or take a woodland riverside walk, following the tumbling beck until it finally joins a curve of the River Lyne. If you can tear yourself away, you are just a few miles from the Scottish border, and ideally situated for exploring Hadrian’s Wall, the Lake District and Northumberland National Parks, and the Scottish Borders. For an unforgettable stay in a very special property book your next escape at The Courtyard. Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 1102745 and 1129282, together sleeping up to eight guests.

Kirklinton Hall is also a wedding venue, but no weddings will take place when the cottages are booked for holiday breaks.

A delightful, well-stocked town in northern Cumbria that runs alongside the River Esk. Longtown is a fantastic base for a holiday as it comes in the centre of four Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including Solway Coast aonb, the Northumberland National Park, North Pennines aonb and the Lake District National Park. The local area offers a pleasant range of shops, pubs and restaurants for you to choose from. There are some beautiful places nearby, offering even more places to go and things to do. Brampton and Carlisle are nearby with beautiful buildings. As Longtown is so close to Scotland, it would be rude not to visit Dumfries and Galloway. Edinburgh and Glasgow are just over an hours drive away.

Peace and tranquility. Spotless accommodation. Very comfortable beds and surroundings, which were spacious and yet cosy. The hosts could not have been better, being very friendly and professional. The private grounds were a major asset especially with being dog owners. There was an unexpected welcome pack of tasty treats. The immediate location is superb. The strategic location is superb being between 4 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We found that we could do as little or as much as we wished. We will definitely be looking to return at the earliest opportunity. Chris and Karen Frost

It’s just like something out of a magazine and it’s so peaceful where the surrounding grounds are private. Perfect for escaping everyday life and soaking in a bit of the countryside.

Very comfortable. Peaceful. We had very good nights of sleep. The owners were very friendly and we were welcomed with lovely treats and wine on our arrival. Spotlessly clean. With a good eye for detail. Warm and cosy with the log burner and underfloor heating. Thank you George and Jess for a wonderful holiday.
