About this property

Campile 1.5 miles.

A lovely, detached cottage, 1.5 miles from the village of Campile, and 8 miles from the town of New Ross, in County Wexford. Built in a traditional style, this quaint Campile cottage boasts wooden floors, open fires, exposed beams and quirky, uneven walls, adding to its charm. The open plan living area is a great place for socialising; with exposed beams and a woodburner, its character features and spacious feel make it ideal for families or groups of friends, while the sitting room with open fire is a cosy, peaceful retreat. Relax in the sun room and enjoy long, warm days, or spend time in the enclosed garden, perfect for dining alfresco. Only 15 minutes' walk is the famous JFK Arboretum, and within four miles of this Campile cottage is the fascinating Kennedy Homestead at Dunganstown, the ancestral home of John F. Kennedy. With the delights of Campile and New Ross to enjoy, this Campile cottage is an ideal base all year round.

Campile, which means 'head of the creek', lies to the south of County Wexford, 10 miles from New Ross. Campile is home to the ruins of Dunbrody Abbey, whose visitor centre and yew-tree maze prove popular with visitors each year. Also in the region are Kilmokea House and Gardens, the JFK Arboretum and JFK ancestral home and the beautiful Blue Flag sandy beach at Duncannon. Amenities can be found in New Ross or Wexford, and Campile itself has a shop and a pub.

The cottage was spacious, spotless, and with all the needed amenities for a stress-free stay. It was amazing to be able to take our dog with us, and to spend the evenings relaxing in front of the open fire. The cottage is ideally located, with numerous beaches and lovely walks around. I would definitely recommend.

Lots to do and see in the surrounding area and wonderful beaches .

Spacious and airy, maintaining lots of atmosphere from its past history. A very quiet location with no farm noise above normal and nopassing traffic. Wonderful night skies free of light pollution. The woodburner and fireplace were very welcoming on cool evenings. Sadly it has suffered from lack of maitamance to the property, especially outside. The en-suite shower room was unusable due to a previous mis-hap causing quite bad water damage, but the large bath in the bathroom was wonderful. Many light bulbs didn't work and the house had a feeling of neglect and the need for t.l.c. It was a shame, because we felt very at home there.
